Managing Tags

Tags in ConversionWax help you organize your assets and banners into logical groups. They are website-scoped, shared across both assets and banners, and fully customizable with colors for quick visual identification.

How Tags Work

  • Website-scoped - Each website has its own set of tags. Tags created for one website do not appear on another.

  • Shared across features - The same tags are available for both assets and banners, so you can use consistent categories across your content.

  • Case-insensitive - Tag names are normalized to lowercase, so "Holiday" and "holiday" are treated as the same tag.

The Tags Page

Navigate to the Tags page from your website navigation to see all tags for that website. The tags list shows:

  • Tag name with its assigned color.

  • Optional description.

  • Usage counts - how many assets and how many banners use each tag, displayed as badges.

  • Creation date.

Creating Tags

You can create tags in two ways:

  • From the Tags page - Click the add button, enter a name, choose a color, and optionally add a description.

  • Inline while editing - When tagging an asset or banner, type a new tag name and create it on the fly.

Tag Colors

Every tag has a customizable color for visual identification:

  • Preset palette - Choose from 8 brand-friendly preset colors for quick selection.

  • Custom hex - Enter any hex color code for full control over your color scheme.

  • Live preview - See how the color looks on the tag chip before saving.

Tag colors appear as colored chips on asset cards and banner cards throughout the application.

Editing Tags

Edit tags directly from the Tags page:

  • Click on a tag to edit its color or description inline.

  • Changes apply everywhere the tag is used - you do not need to update individual assets or banners.

Deleting Tags

When you delete a tag:

  • A confirmation dialog appears showing the impact of deletion.

  • The dialog displays how many assets and banners currently use the tag.

  • Cascade delete - The tag is automatically removed from all assets and banners that reference it.

  • No assets or banners are deleted - only the tag association is removed.

Using Tags for Filtering

Tags power the filtering system on both the Assets and Banners pages:

  • Select one or more tags in the filter panel to narrow your view.

  • Tag filters use AND logic - selecting multiple tags shows only items that have all selected tags.

  • Combine tag filters with search and sort for precise results.

Tips

  • Establish a consistent tagging convention across your team - for example, use tags for campaigns ("summer-2026"), content types ("hero-banner"), or regions ("us-east").

  • Review tag usage counts periodically and clean up unused tags to keep your library organized.

  • Use distinct colors for different tag categories to make visual scanning faster.
